McLeod County smartly unified staff under one roof. The consulting services of iSPACE Environments helped steer the project through challenging circumstances.
The new McLeod County Government Center in Glencoe, MN, is a poster project for creative and well-executed re-use of an existing structure. In a high-visibility location with great access to US Highway 212, the facility–once the home of an implement & power sports business–is now the main home to staff and services that were previously spread out among multiple County buildings in Glencoe, including meeting space for the McLeod County Board and offices and public-facing service areas for a number of County departments.
The project, an immense planning and logistics effort, was another perfect opportunity for iSPACE Environments to provide strategic consulting services to help steer interior furnishings in a smart direction across a wide gamut of products.

Before the project was put to bid, and in the midst of COVID, iSPACE and project partners from Teknion and ISG, Mankato, worked with the McLeod County team through multiple strategy and product testing sessions, and created space mock-ups to help ensure the initial furniture plan was sound.
The resulting plan which the County approved involved a smart mix of private office, open work environment, conference space, cafe/break rooms, and public reception spaces. Teknion Leverage and District lines with height adjustable desks are used in offices and workstations. Guest reception and waiting areas feature Spec modular seating, with Spec hi-top tables providing ample space for project files and collaboration in work areas. SitOnIt task seating is used in work areas and in conference spaces including the large County Board Meeting Room.
The approximately 42,000 sq ft project took roughly two years from start to finish. Our team is proud to have been involved from start to finish–providing insightful consulting services on the front end to help support the initial design, and then sourcing furnishings and managing delivery and install for the now bustling facility.
