With abundant sunshine and smartly dressed crowds around every corner, Chicago certainly was abuzz for the 2024 editions of NeoCon at the Merchandise Mart and Design Days in the Fulton Market District. Our iSpace teams made multiple visits to Teknion’s beautiful (and über-practical) showroom at 700 West Fulton Street to collect intel and insights on the latest Teknion, Studio TK and LUUM releases, and returned with inspiration sure to fuel our work in the months ahead!

While some showrooms in Chicago lean toward dramatic, almost theatric presentations of new products (chairs hanging from ceilings seemed to be big this year), the Teknion showroom, with its distinct address, 7th floor views, and family of human-centered furniture, seems to have both feet squarely planted in the reality of thoughtful, modern workplaces. From practical, space-defining architectural products to the smallest, innovative details Teknion does an excellent job of organizing their showroom and showcasing the products and the unique ideas behind them in a way that seems familiar, useful and easily-translated to real workplaces. We like to think our iSpace showrooms share this philosophy: they are working showrooms, in-tune with the ways our teams do their work.
The underlying idea weaving through the showroom this year, “the ways we work: better today than yesterday,” supports Teknion’s (and our) belief that the office really IS worth the commute and is getting better and more in-touch with work-life reality since our pandemic reset. A well-designed and well-provisioned workplace can be a true supporting player in our changing work rituals and can enable deeper connections between co-workers and our organizations.
